Yapstone, through our brand RentPayment, is the largest electronic payments processor in the multifamily industry, serving thousands of property management companies representing over 3 million apartment units. Yapstone enables properties to easily accept credit/debit cards and electronic checks, as well as convert paper checks to electronic payments.

Founded in 1999, we have established ourselves in the industry, and are now looking to grow and improve. We are seeking a junior engineer to join our fast-paced development group and contribute to both design and implementation while gaining practical programming experience in the online payment sector.

Job Description and Responsibilities

• Your first responsibility will be to learn our system by jumping in to implement new feature enhancements, including designing, developing and testing, as well as help resolve known issues. Our system processes billions in credit card transactions and can be very challenging to work on.
• We're genuinely looking for a person who can take on new challenges. You will become our system expert and help the team with essential tasks such as
• Customer requirements
• Improvements to the current system
• Refactor applying newest technology
• Performance Optimization

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated, focused engineer - a recent graduate with two or more years of experience (B.S in CS, Distributed Systems, EE, Physics, M.S. in CS preferred).

Candidates should have the following skills/experience:

• 2-5 years of work experience with Java and J2EE technologies; if you have recently graduated, it is expected that you will have at least 2 years of experience via internships or other work
• Fluent with JSP, Servlets, Java, MVC, HTML, XML, XSLT, AJAX and JavaScript
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases is required
• Excellent communication skills - English fluency is required
• User Interface development focus and/or interest is desirable
• A plus if you understand design patterns, have worked with tools Tomcat, Subversion, and Dojo.
